Dhoom 2 (2006) *DVDRip* - XviD

Who in his right mind would want to have his movie release within the first two weeks of a Rajni movie, in South India at least?
And here we have Yash Raj films releasing a movie on the same day as Sivaji!
Sometimes I wonder at the risk-taking ability of these guys, but this is what I would call "stupid". Even if Sivaji follows the "Baba" trend, I don't see Jhoom Barabar Jhoom gaining from it.
The depression that south India would go into would cast a spell of doom on the entire industry itself. Having Big B, Small B, Preity, Lara Dutta and Bobby Deol is not good enough. Even if you had a Shah Rukh Khan I doubt if this would be a sensible thing to do.

The music has certainly caught on in north India. But down south, it is still these movies like Dubai Seenu (Telugu), Chennai 600 028, Unnalae Unnalae and Mozhi (all Tamil) that are topping the charts (apart from Sivaji of course!). Jhoom Barabar Jhoom has not really caught the attention of the cinegoers in any way.

In fact the trend in Bollywood is tilting towards multi-starrers with the big stars choosing quality over quantity. And showing all stars in one screen in one trailer is not going to attract the audience anymore.

Worse is the fact that all the national news channels and entertainment channels are mouthing only thing. "Rajni". "Naan oru thadavu sonna nooru thadavu sonna madari" (If I say it once, it is the same as saying it hundred times!). And the TV channels are actually saying it hundred times each in one 30-minute programme.

A mike is shoved under Rajni's ageing chin, and he is asked questions like "Are you tense?", "Please tell us your favourite Rajni dialogue", "Do you think Sivaji will satisfy the expectations of the audience?".

He is an actor for God's sake, and leave him alone. We don't want to see his balding head with greying hair and tired eyes. We like to see our Superstar in sunglasses (even if it is night time), usual hairstyle and flashy clothes. That's the brand Rajni.

Anyways, having your movie clash with this phenomenon is like cutting the branch of the tree on which you are sitting on. The media has already declared Sivaji to be a hit even before it is released.

Chennai's main theatres are booked for a month, theatres in Bangalore are booked for 15 days and Hyderabad is full for two weeks.

Atleast till then not a soul is going to even think about watching Jhoom Barabar Jhoom in south india. The only audience that it is going to catch is that group of people who haven't been able to find a ticket for themselves and have a lot of time to kill. And that could be disastrous for a movie like JBJ with so much riding on its head. It's small B's first release after marriage and a big banner behind it.
